With the release of the remake of The Bad News Bears just around the corner, I am reminded of the tired tradition of formula casting. You know, casting an actor so that he or she can reprise a popular archetype they just played in another movie hoping that it will draw an audience in to see them do it again. That being said,
I never again want to see Billy Bob Thornton play the foul-mouthed drunk that hates kids
I never again want to see Morgan Freeman play the wise old black man
I never again want to see Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, or Jack Black try to be funny
I never again want to see Jennifer Coolidge play the big breasted bimbo
I never again want to see Julia Roberts play the all around great gal with the loud laugh
I never again want to see Tommy Lee Jones play the cranky retired Texas ranger
I never again want to see Chris Rock in ANYTHING
i never again want to see Will Ferrell do whatever it is that he does in every movie he is in
I never again want to see Vince Vaughn play the chubbier version of his Swingers role
I never again want to see Owen Wilson in a movie not directed by Wes Anderson
I never again want to see Keanu Reeves play a wise, lone hero that only speaks 3 words of dialogue
I never again want to see Tom Cruise play the all around great guy that rises to the occasion or solves the crime or saves the day or falls in love or makes the right decision in the end or anything else for that matter because he is a fucking lunatic
