magic : the hackening
I never thought I’d write a post about The Amazing Jonathan
but here I am writing one about him.
for those of you not in the hackey comedy know, The Amazing Jonathan is a “magedian” or “comegician” – a magician comedian basically. He combines magic, comedy, and at times, Carrot Top caliber prop comedy.
I was up last night watching The Amazing Jonathan’s new Comedy Central special. Yes, new. The guy has a brand new special. With brand new material. Well, old material done in a different order with a different audience volunteer by an older more haggard AJ.
I never thought I’d say this but, man, he’s really let himself go.

I caught the tail end of that broadcast and I was like, “Is there a new channel Comedy Central Classic?”
I’m sure ten year olds would find his routine edgy, if they weren’t already in bed.

i was so pissed, the tv listing said that it was the demetri martin special and it tricked me into watching a full 30 seconds of that trainwreck. for the first 5 seconds i actually thought it was an elaborate ironic bit put on by demetri. the next 25 seconds were spent in abject horror. finally my motor skills re-engaged and i switched the channel but not before AJ ripped david copperfield a new AJ-hole. oh man david copperfield jokes? talk about speaking truth to power! take that magic establishment!
