i went and saw CLOVERFIELD yesterday afternoon. It was pretty bad ass. I saw it after spending 2 hours the night before watching various Doomsday scenarios unfold on the History channel. What if a gamma blast occurred near Earth? Or perhaps a traveling Black Hole swings through town. Yes TRAVELING. Apparently they aren’t stationary at all. They can move around and wreak havoc. Other situations were Super Volcano eruptions – which is due somewhere in Yellowstone. Bacterial invasion. Asteroids. And of course Weather. Not on the list – bad ass monster comes to manhattan. No spoilers here, but I gotta say a friend of mine described it best as all the best parts of Godzilla (what few there were), Blair Witch, and The Young and The Restless. The shaky cam thing was actually not annoyingly nauseating in this and holy god the monster fucking rules. If you like hot 30 somethings that like indie music running thru Manhattan while a monster goes apeshit, you’ll most likely love CLOVERFIELD.
